Over 320,000 residents in Rutherford County are hungry for more restaurants and retail establishments.
Retail opportunities are big business, even if they’re small businesses.
With a population of more than 320,000, Rutherford County is Tennessee’s fastest-growing community. The population growth and high incomes have made us a magnet for retail growth.
In 2016, retail sales for the county were over $7 Billion, with growth every single year prior to that. The explosion of new retail and restaurant openings have shown a demand far in excess of projections.
Multiple retail districts with varying ambiances are available in Murfreesboro. Our city square and downtown offers shops with historic character, while Fountains at Gateway in the Gateway District features a new, urban vibe. The Avenue Murfreesboro, the largest of our retail districts, is an open-air lifestyle center with over 100 boutiques, eateries, and big-box stores. The redeveloped Stones River Mall anchors another district of shops and eateries that adjoins the Gateway District, creating a combined retail zone that will thrill even the most avid shopper or foodie. The AMC movie theater chain recently built a new high-end movie experience attached to Stones River Mall.
